Udaipur: A public event in Udaipur took an unexpected turn on Sunday (June 23) when Assam governor Gulab Chand Kataria intervened forcefully to prevent an RSS veteran from approaching former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje with a garland.
The incident took place during the event, where ex-Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje was present, and Assam governor Gulab Chand Kataria deemed it inappropriate for an audience member, identified as RSS worker Vijay Raj Suwalka, to climb onto the stage and attempt to garland Raje in the middle of the proceedings.

Despite Kataria’s intervention, Suwalka hesitated to leave the stage, leading to a brief verbal exchange.
Raje herself stood up to admonish Suwalka for his actions.
According to Suwalka, the incident stemmed from a past disagreement where he had publicly requested a BJP ticket to contest from his assembly seat, Barisadri, which the Assam governor reportedly did not support.
Gulab Chand Kataria, a seven-time former MLA, assumed office as Assam governor in February 2023.
