Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi while expressing concern over the Nalbari road mishap, condoled the death of the passengers in the ill-feted bus.

In his message, the Governor has prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families. He has wished speedy recovery to those injured in the accident.

He also asked the administration to provide best possible medical treatment to the injured persons.

It may be mentioned that in a tragic road accident that took place at Adabari in Nalbari district on Saturday, a bus which was going to Barpeta from Guwahati skidded off the road and fell into a roadside pond.

At least six people were killed and 20 others injured, some of them critically, when the ASTC bus they were travelling in, plunged into a 200-foot-deep gorge at Mukalmua area in lower Assam’s Nalbari district.

A total of 30 passengers were on board the bus (no AS 20-1422) that was on its way to Barpeta from Guwahati.

Locals said while three passengers died on the spot, three others succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.
