Assam Governor, Sonowal, Chandra Mohan greet people on Chhath Puja

Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi greeted the people across the State on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja which is a festival of joy, happiness, self-discipline, faith, belief and prayers to the Sun God.

In a message Governor Mukhi said, “My heartfelt greetings to the people all across State on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja where people participate in large number to offer prayers to Sun God.

Hope the celebrations of the festival showcasing utmost self-discipline, faith and belief help in strengthening human values like restraint, abstinence, renunciation etc.”

Assam Chief Minister also greeted the people of the State on the occasion.

In his message, Sonowal said that Chhath Puja epitomizes performing puja to thank God for supporting life on Earth and to seek divine blessings. Since the observance of the festival involves a rigorous routine, including fasting, holy bathing, offering prayers to the rising and setting sun by standing amidst water, the festival is all about abstinence and purification, he said.

“I hope the festival strengthens universal brotherhood and brightens peace, prosperity and progress,” Sonowal said.

Assam Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has also extended his warm greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Chhath Puja.

In a statement, the Minister said, ‘May the festival of offering prayers to Sun God help in bringing energy and spirituality among the devotees and bless our State with happiness and prosperity.’
