As a run up to the celebrations of International Day of Yoga 2020, a virtual yoga programme got underway in Assam Raj Bhavan from Thursday.

It was participated by state Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and the first lady Prem Mukhi.

The virtual yoga programme necessitated in view of the COVID-19 pandemic has been facilitated by AMTRON which digitally connected yoga enthusiasts from the Directorate of Sports, Marwari Yuba Mancha, Akhi Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Samity, Kreera Bharati, Bharat Scouts and Guides, CII,  FICCI, Lions Club, Byatikram MASDO along with officers and staffs of Raj Bhavan.

Inaugurating the four-day programme which will culminate on June 21 on the day of International Day of Yoga, Governor Prof Mukhi highlighted the importance of yoga.

The Governor said yoga is an ancient art and science originated in India and seen as a powerful way of up-keeping one’s good health.

He also said yoga is a creative way to release stress and keep oneself healthy and happy.

He also said that in view of COVID-19 pandemic and its huge toll on the lives of human being, yoga is looked upon as the potential tool to remain fit and healthy and strengthen the body’s natural disease fighting capability.

The Governor also urged everybody to practice yoga from home with their family members and participate on June 21 to celebrate the International Day of Yoga through the link https://360streamingsolutions.com/vc/amtron.

It may be noted that this year’s yoga sessions have been termed as e-yoga in view of the prevailing situation and AMTRON has provided a link to different groups through WhatsApp to be connected digitally.
