The Assam government has decided to regularize the services of 580 high school teachers with effect from the date of their joining in 2001.
A Cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday took the decision.
The Cabinet also approved the service rules of 101 vocational teachers in 57 schools, making them eligible for pay in the time-scale of Rs 28,748 per month.
It also gave “in-principle” approval to the regularization of ASDMA employees, subject to observation of formalities.
Contractual employees who rendered at least 10 years of service in the P&RD department would get service extension up to 60 years of age.
The minister concerned has been asked to submit a report in this regard.
Other decisions taken by the Cabinet include creation of Bodoland Administrative Staff College and a new department to be known as department for Welfare of Bodoland.
The government also approved allotment of 239 bighas of land to Srimanta Sankaradeva University at Hatichung in Nagaon, 1 katha land to Deepak Sangha in Guwahati and 10 bighas to World Renewal Spiritual Trust in Kamrup.
The government also decided to purchase 8000 wheelchairs, which would be used during the forthcoming general elections and for other purposes thereafter.
