Assam Government mulls stopping home isolation facility for COVID-19 patients

The Assam Government is mulling to stop home isolation facility for COVID-19 patients. 

This was informed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday.

He said that the State Government would gradually stop home isolation. 

On the other hand, the COVID-19 induced curfew in Assam has been extended till June 5.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma made this announcement during his visit to Dhubri district in Assam on Tuesday. 

Curfew is in place since April 27 in Assam in a bid to curb the rising cases of COVID-19 in the State. 

In urban areas, the curfew will stay in place from 12pm till 5 in the morning next day. 

On the other hand, in rural areas, the curfew will get enforced at 2pm, instead of earlier 6pm timing.

Moreover, restrictions on inter-district movement of people have also been extended till June 5. 

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has hoped that the daily death toll in Assam would show a declining trend in the next ten days. 

Notably, Assam, on Monday logged as many as 84 COVID-19 deaths and 6221 new cases. 

However, the daily COVID-19 positivity rate in Assam is showing a decline in the last couple of days.
