The Udalguri district committee of All BTC Bengali Youth Students Federation (ABBYSF) on Thursday alleged that the Assam Government has hatched a conspiracy to oust the 30 lakh Bengalis of State by labeling them as foreigners.

Hundreds of genuine Bengali speaking people having documents to prove their citizenship are languishing in detention camps due to the detrimental policies of the government which is quite unfortunate, the students’ body has alleged.

‘The government doesn’t want a foreigner free state but rather a Bengali people free state.’

This was observed by the secretary of Udalguri district ABBYSF, Sankar Das at a press meet in Dimakuchi of Udalguri district on Thursday.

Referring to the alleged suicide of a bicycle maker Dipak Debnath (49) at Ulubari (Ghagra) village under Harisinga police station in Udalguri district on October 28 after the Foreigners Tribunal, Udalguri served him D-voter notice and despite having his name in the electoral rolls of 1971 and final draft NRC, Das alleged that the government is liable for the incident as he was forcefully being labelled as D-voter.

He also claimed that chief advisor of ABBYSF, Shyamal Sarkar had not made any inflammatory comments as reported in media and it is quite unfortunate that some organizations have lodged FIRs against him at various police stations of the State without knowing the fact.

He also said that the comments made by pro-talk ULFA leaders Jiten Dutta and Prabal Neog referring to the Bengalis is not acceptable.

Referring to the comments made by president of Udalguri district committee ABBYSF, Sujit Sarkar, the students’ body sought unconditional apology from the people of State.

The press meet was also addressed by advisor of Udalguri district committee ABBYSF, Santanu Sarkar.
