Haflong: The Assam government has appointed six members as Executive Members (EMs) to the 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) in Haflong with immediate effect.
According to a notification issued by the Hill Areas Department under the powers conferred by the Assam Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951, the newly appointed EMs are Lalremsiama Darnei from Khartong Constituency, Projith Hojai from Hajadisa Constituency, Noah Daime from Hangrum Constituency, Ngulminlal Lienthang from Borail Constituency, Manjoy Langthasa from Maibang East Constituency and Ratan Jarambusa from Kalachand Constituency.
The notification further stated that two existing Executive Members—Devojit Bathari of Hadingma Constituency and Biswajit Daolagupu of Wajao Constituency have ceased to hold office with immediate effect.
The order was issued by the Governor of Assam through the Hill Areas Department on May 18.
However, portfolios for the newly appointed members are yet to be allocated and are expected to be assigned shortly.
