Assam Government on Saturday has appointed officers of some cadres as census officers and designated them to supervise the census operation of 2021 within their respective jurisdiction.
As per the government order issued in this regard, for division, district, sub-division and tehsil levels, the appointments would be as – divisional commissioner as the divisional census officer, deputy commissioner as the principal census officer, additional deputy commissioner as the district census officer, sub divisional officer as the sub divisional census officer, circle officer as the charge officer, and circle officer (Attached), block development officer as the additional charge officer/assistant charge officer respectively.
In regard to city, town and ward levels, the appointments would be as follows – for Guwahati Municipal Corporation, the municipal commissioner and additional municipal commissioner has been appointed as the principal census officer and the city census officer respectively.
On the other hand, the executive officer/administrator will act as the charge officers of the respective towns.
Assistant commissioner (for GMC area)/divisional head (for GMC Area)/appropriate levels below executive officer/administrative officer will act as the charge officer/additional charge officer/assistant charge officer respectively in the respective towns.
