GUWAHATI: In a significant seizure, Guwahati Customs intercepted an attempt to smuggle a substantial quantity of gold bars at Kamakhya Railway Station in Guwahati, Assam.

The operation, carried out on March 10, resulted in the confiscation of 29 pieces of gold bars weighing a total of 4814.57 grams.

The estimated value of the seized gold is approximately Rs 3.24 crore.

The clandestine attempt to transport the gold bars was foiled when customs officials apprehended an individual who was attempting to board the Avadh Assam Express.

Upon conducting a thorough search, it was discovered that the gold bars were concealed around the individual’s waist in an attempt to evade detection.
