A 22-year-old girl from Nalbari has alleged rape by her boyfriend and another man after she had been drugged at a hotel in Paltan Bazar in Guwahati.
The incident took place at the Suncity Hotel on January 1. The prime accused purportedly the victim’s boyfriend, has been identified as Muhammad Imdadul Islam (24). He hails from Chotobozra, Hazirhat in Dhubri in western Assam.
Police informed that the victim who hails from Namati Pohati, Nalbari, had come to Guwahati to celebrate New Year’s Day with her ‘boyfriend’. Upon arriving in the city, they met at the hotel where Islam had booked a room (Number 309) through OYO Rooms.
Later in the evening, Islam’s friend joined them and allegedly spiked the victim’s drink and food with sedatives. Once the victim lost consciousness, the two boys allegedly raped her all night.
The victim was aghast to find herself alone in the room when she woke up in the morning. As her repeated calls to Islam went unanswered, she filed a case at the Paltan Bazar Police Station.
Police have launched a search to nab the culprits, investigation is on.
