In a bid to give support to the families of martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the country, former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir has taken a laudable initiative.

As a part of the initiative, Gambhir has come forward to bear all the responsibilities – including education and sports – of Barpeta’s Kristiman Harijan, son of martyr Balen Harijan, who served the country as a CRPF jawan.

Priyanka Sharma, a representative of Gautam Gambhir Foundation, arrived at the Kid Veda School in Pathsala, where Kristiman Harijan has been studying and conveyed Gautam Gambhir’s message and announced the decision of the foundation to bear the responsibilities of the child.

The family of the martyr hails from Baghmara near Pathsala under Bajali Sub-division in Barpeta district.

Mridul Kalita, director of Kid Veda Pathsala along with the locals lauded the initiative of the foundation and Gautam Gambhir.
