“From the time GU started to take a new shape in 90s to the present situation, there has been a vast change like administrative reforms, academic reforms, ease in dealing the industrial dispute, etc. This becomes possible for keeping the passion ignited for the development of the institution in the heart and minds of everyone since its foundation. And it is believed that this passion will take GU beyond its present stature of success in the next five years,” said Dr Hazarika.
Dr. Hazarika added, “It is a great opportunity to be in this position, wherefrom it has been able to add only a single brick to this super structure that GU demonstrates today among the people. The present stature of the University is an extended part of the past success, for which we cannot take the credit individually.”
While, highlighting some important aspects on the future development of the University, former VC, Prof Nirmal Kr Choudhury said, “there must be a proper planning to take the position of University at a much higher level. This planning must include the creation of separate campus in order to include the undergraduate courses within the GU ambit in future. Tezpur University and IIT Guwahati are highly recognized for encompassing the undergraduate students within their campus. Therefore, as the 20th oldest university in India, GU must also think of assimilating both UG and PG students onto their campus in future”.
