When contacted, Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Barnali Deka told Northeast Now that the Dhaligaon-based BRPL plant has been informed regarding the smell and urged to take necessary measures.

She said the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) personnel have also been put on alert.

Deka said, “A BRPL (Bongaigaon Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd) team is coming to Kokrajhar town to find out the cause of the small. They will check if there is any leakage in the gas pipeline in the town.”

“We have received no information regarding leakage from any gas tanker in the town,” she added.
