Four undertrial prisoners have escaped from Udalguri District Jail of Assam.
According to reports, the under trial prisoners identified as Mohammed Hajimuddin, Mohammed Kajimuddin , Mofidul Islam , Kudus Ali who were housed in a quarantine ward made specifically for COVID-19, escaped on Thursday night.
“The four under trial prisoners escaped from the quarantine ward by breaking ventilator at about 1 am on Thursday night. While Mohammed Hajimuddin, Mohammed Kajimuddin were arrested on July 18 on charges of cattle theft, Mofidul Islam and Kudus Ali were arrested on July 23 under sections of Cattle Trespassers Act 1971,” said a prison official.
