Assam: Former ULFA leader Ramen Sut joins LDP

Former United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leader Ramen Kumar Sut has joined the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), led by Prodyut Bora.

Informing this on his Twitter handle, LDP chairman Prodyut Bora on Monday said Sut has been appointed as the Sonitpur district president of LDP.

Ramen Kumar Sut, who was a ‘Lance Corporal’ in ULFA, was serving as Sonitpur district general secretary of Prakton Ulfa Oikya Mancha, a joint organization of former ULFA cadres.

Sut was a Lance Corporal in ULFA’s 27 Battalion.

The LDP chairman informed that Sut is currently a businessman and is involved with various social organisations.

“He is the secretary of Rupantor Multipurpose Society, Tezpur; the finance secretary of Green Heritage, Sonitpur, an executive member of Assam Socio Economic Development Forum,” Bora said in a tweet.

On Sunday, Anupam Barua, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, who was a vice-president of Sonitpur district BJP, joined the LDP.

Bora said Barua has been appointed as a state secretary (organization) of LDP.

“I am pleased to inform you that the first person to resign from BJP over CAA, Anupom Barua of Tezpur, has joined LDP. He has been appointed as state secretary (organisation),” Bora said.

Barua is a businessman and is the managing director of Kurojo Automobiles Pvt Ltd and a tea planter, Bora said.
