Former members of disbanded National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) Saoraigwra faction, have demanded the withdrawal of criminal cases levelled against the former members of the outfit.

They have also demanded their release from jails as per the clauses of the last Bodo Accord.

Addressing a press conference at Bhergaon in Udalguri on Friday, the vice-president of Udalguri chapter of former NDFB Welfare Society Daoharo Boro said, “Several members of the outfit are languishing in different district jails.”

“We have appealed the Assam home and political department to initiate measures for their unconditional release and take up rehabilitation measures as per the clauses of the pact,” he said.

Boro further asserted that though there have been political differences among the leaders of NDFB, the people of the Bodo belt are batting for a change in guards.

He urged the people to vote for the Pramod Boro-led United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).

“Despite founder chairman of NDFB Ranjan Daimari being one of the core signatories of the Bodo Accord, signed on January 27, he has not been granted a general amnesty. The government should take up measures for his unconditional release,” he further said.
