Aditya Saikia, the younger son of former joint secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and IAS officer Ashok Saikia, passed away on Wednesday due to Covid19.

Aditya Saikia was 41 years old.

He was undergoing treatment at Medanta – The Medacity Hospital in Gurgaon.

He is survived by a boy, aged around 4 years.

He did his schooling at Sunflower, Kendriya  Vidyalaya Khanapara, GD Somani School, Camden Junior School and Gyan Bharati School.

Aditya completed his graduation in Economics from St Stephen’s College Delhi and did PG Diploma in International Business from Amsterdam Business School in Netherlands.

One of the pioneers in the field of skill development and vocational training in Assam, Aditya Saikia was the director of Gram Tarang Employability Training Services.

Saikia’s organization has trained and placed more than 2 lakh people across the nation and worked in different geographies which included Naxal and insurgency affected areas of eastern and northastern region of the country.

He was also the managing director of Gram Tarang Vocational Education and Training (GTVET), which is working in the field of online training and staffing services.

Before joining Gram Tarang, he was working with Rothschild, an investment bank, in London.

He moved to Rothschild India in March 2008 and worked first in Mumbai.

Then he set up its Delhi office in January 2009.

He started his stint with Gram Tarang, based in Guwahati where he led the rollout of all of Gram Tarangs in Assam and Northeast operations, which now has 5 centres.

He also took responsibility for Punjab and HOOF Schools project and led business development & partnerships.
