Deka’s demand to the state government comes at a time when IPS officer Mishra has become a social media hero during Assam Police’s massive crackdown on drug peddlers.

Claiming that the image of Nagaon SP, who served as the Dhubri SP before his transfer, is “artificial” and “media-generated”, Deka has claimed only a proper inquiry would reveal the truth.

“The image of the present Superintendent of Police of Nagaon is artificial and media generated. His tenure as superintendent of police in Dhubri requires a proper investigation and will reveal a lot,” Deka tweeted.

When asked about his claim on his Twitter handle, Deka told Northeast Now over the phone: “The tweet is all clear. Till now, I have not given any byte to the media. I am now at home after being tested Covid positive.”

He continued, “Media should not make him a hero. What did he do in Dhubri in the last three years? Didn’t anything happen in that period?”

“I have no personal enmity with anyone. So I have not taken any name in the tweet. I have mentioned just as the Nagaon SP. Hope, the government will take action. You may also investigate into the matter on your own,” Deka told Northeast Now.

“I have been demanding NIA probe since long. But the order should come from the government,” he added.

Police arrested Jatin Das, a deputy superintendent of police (border) in Dhubri, on charges of carrying out a drug racket in nexus with drug peddlers.

After the arrest of Dhubri DSP (border) Das, fingers were pointed on social media at former Dhubri superintendent of police Anand Mishra.
