The former president of All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU), Ashwini Chetia passed away on Thursday midnight in a private hospital in Guwahati.
He was suffering from cancer and was under treatment at Health City hospital for a few days.
He left behind his wife and son.
The former AATASU president who later became the advisor of the students’ body had joined the BJP last year.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his condolences at the untimely demise of Chetia.
Sonowal took to Twitter to express his grief.
He wrote:
