Unidentified miscreants fired at a forest official on Tuesday morning at Ranga Reserve Forest in Lakhimpur district along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

The incident took place when Banamali Narah, a Forest Beat officer from Lakhimpur went to Ranga Reserve Forest to stop the felling of trees by a group of people from Arunachal Pradesh.

Following the incident, Lakhimpur Forest officials and Assam Police have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Earlier on November 20, a senior official Assam forest department was allegedly manhandled by some people from Arunachal Pradesh in the Lakhimpur district on the interstate border.
