Forest department officials shot dead a wild buffalo after the wild animal killed two people and injured three others in Assam’s Biswanath district.

The wild buffalo, which strayed out from Kaziranga national park, attacked at least five people, including a woman in Matak and Kumalia in Biswanath.

All the injured persons were admitted to the hospital. Two critically injured persons– Jayanta Das and Sukur Ali—died at the hospital during treatment.

Following the incident, angry villagers vandalized the local forest office.
