A forest guard was grievously injured during an elephant attack in Hojai’s Lanka.

The forest official was identified as Shivajit Sharma of Lanka.

He was injured while attempting to chase away a herd of wild tuskers that had wandered out into the villages from the jungles in search of food.

While the forest team was attempting to chase the tuskers away, one of the elephants turned and attacked the team.

During this attack, Shivajit was injured but somehow survived.

He was immediately taken to a medical facility and is currently undergoing treatment at the Haji Abdul Majid Memorial Hospital.

It may be mentioned that over the past few days, several incidents of man-elephant conflicts were reported in various parts of the state.

Even on Monday a 45-year-old man, identified as Rajib Gogoi, was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Bojaloni under Margherita West Range forest office of Digboi Forest Division in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on Sunday.
