The Hailakandi district administration in Assam has imposed indefinite curfew in several parts of the district.
Curfew was clamped in several parts of the district following clashes between two communities.
The clashes broke out late on Monday night resulting in injuries to many including two policemen.
Curfew has been imposed in areas of Serispore Tea Estate, Narainpur, Itarkandi and Chandpur.

Police informed that a violent clash broke out at Serispore Tea Estate area following an altercation between a rickshaw puller and his passengers.
Later, after coming to know about the commotion people from two communities reportedly gathered in the area.
The two parties attacked each other by pelting stones and using sharp weapons.
Several shops and business establishments were also reportedly vandalised in the clash.
Later, when police arrived at the spot to get the situation under control, the mob comprising of members of both the communities attacked the police.
The attack resulted in injuries to at least two policemen.
Nizam Uddin Choudhury, MLA from Hailakandi’s Algapur constituency, has urged residents to maintain peace.
