Prabhat Sharma, a renowned folk exponent, flautist and musician of Assam, passed away in Guwahati in the early hours on Tuesday. He was 86.
Family sources said the music legend’s end came suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep.
He breathed his last around 6 a.m. at his residence in the city’s Ambikagiri Nagar area.
The maestro managed a folk music troupe– Debogandhar – which performed folk music with various traditional music instruments. He also trained several students.
Sharma is survived by his wife and daughter Tarali Sharma, an acclaimed Assamese singer.
