Assam Tripura: Police recover three dead bodies in past 24 hours Manipur

Guwahati: On Monday morning at least five persons were killed during an accident in Kokrajhar, Assam.

According to reports, a speeding truck collided with a group of devotees (kanwariyas) outside the Mahamaya temple in the Kachugaon area, resulting in the loss of five lives and leaving two critically injured.

The victims, who were participating in the Bol Bom yatra during the holy month of Sawan, had gathered at the temple to perform Jal Abhishekam when the truck, bearing registration number RJ 10GC 0217, rammed into them.

Police confirmed the fatalities, stating that four people died at the scene, while one more succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Sukra Kanta Roy, Joyo Roy, Bappi Ghosh, Basudev Roy, and Nabojit Ghosh, all from Hatigarh Village No. 1 in Gossaigaon.

The police have arrested the truck driver responsible for the accident and an investigation into the incident is underway.
