Guwahati: Five men were nabbed by the police from Rangia in Kamrup around 50 km from Guwahati, Assam on Friday night for being involved in alleged “fake” cold smuggling.
A police source said that the suspects were arrested from a hotel near Rangia Railway Station in Kamrup, Assam.

They were nabbed during a raid based on specific inputs present with the police.

On launching the operation, the police team came across the five suspects.

Checking them led to the discovery of a fake gold ingot shaped like a boat.
The suspected gold boat was allegedly meant to be sold to someone by fraud.
The police also found some suspected fake notes and six mobile phones from them.

A red car bearing registration AS01FK9901 was also seized from them.
All five were arrested by the police.
They were identified as Shahidul Islam, Shafiqul Islam, Abu Taher, Annas Ali, and Abdul Malek.
Police are currently interrogating the suspects to gather more information and understand the extent of their alleged illegal activities
