The Assam government, on Thursday, announced that a Fast-Track Court will hear the sensational Nandita Saikia murder case.
The announcement was made by Assam education minister Ranuj Pegu after a cabinet meeting in Guwahati.
Moreover, the Assam cabinet has directed special DGP – GP Singh to monitor investigation into the case.
Nandita Saikia, the college girl from Lakhimpur district in Assam, who sustained grievous injuries in a machete attack, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.
Nandita was undergoing treatment at the Brahmaputra Diagnostic and Hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam after being attacked with a machete, on Saturday, by Rintu Sarma in Dhemaji district of Assam.

Nandita hailed from Naba Kathbari village in Dhakuakhana. She was a BA third-semester student of Maridhal College in Dhemaji.
Nandita was killed by Rintu Sharma with a machete for rejecting his marriage proposal. Meanwhile, police have arrested Rintu Sarma. Rintu Sarma is an employee at the Maridhal College in Dhemaji, where the victim was a student.
Meanwhile, opposition Congress has demanded exemplary punishment for the murderer of college girl from Lakhimpur district Nandita Saikia.
The Assam Congress has said that the death of Nandita Saikia is a result of BJP-led state government’s failure to maintain law and order.
