Assam: Fake currency racket busted in Guwahati

A fake currency racket has been busted by the police in Assam’s capital city Guwahati on Thursday.

A woman has also been arrested by the Guwahati Police in connection with the case.

Counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs 1 lakh has been seized during the raid.

Apart from the fake currency, fake identity cards and items used in printing currency notes were also seized by the police.

Meanwhile, the Guwahati police has launched a man-hunt to nab more accused in the case, who are now on the run.

“Fake Currency printing and circulation racket busted! A woman has been arrested & fake currency notes amounting to ? 1 lakh, fake IDs & items used in printing of currency notes seized. Hunt is on for more absconding accused persons. Further investigation is going on…” Guwahati Police tweeted.
