This BTC poll holds significance in the history of Bodo belt as it is being held after the 3rd Bodo Accord, where all factions of the now disbanded National Democratic Front of Bodoland(NDFB) have laid down arms.

This has paved the way for permanent peace and development in the region.

Saikia on Sunday also took stock of the preparations for the induction ceremony of BJP on November 6 at Kalaigaon College playground in Udalguri district.

State health and finance minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP president, Ranjit Kr. Das will be present on the occasion.

The BTC  polls, which were earlier scheduled to be held on April 4 and had to be indefinitely postponed because of the ongoing pandemic,  likely to be held in December this year.

The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has only one member in the 46- member council, where polls are held for 40 seats and 6 members are nominated by the Governor from non-represented communities.
