The man-elephant conflict has been going on for a long time in Assam, but at the same time, train-elephant conflicts too seem to be an issue as another jumbo was killed by a train in Samaguri of Nagaon district.
As per officials, the incident took place on Saturday night. The full-grown male elephant was mowed down by the Guwahati-Silghat near Samaguri.

The locomotive pilot had reported not seen the wild elephant come down on the tracks and before he could have noticed, the train had already hit the giant.

The elephant had died on spot after being hit by the train.
Earlier in December, a seven-month-old elephant calf was killed after being hit by a speeding train at Mariani in upper Assam’s Jorhat district on Friday.

With this, five elephants were killed in 2021 after being mowed down by trains in Assam.
The death reported on Sunday was the year’s first elephant death related to trains.
