An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter Scale shook Assam’s Sonitpur early Saturday morning.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake struck at 5:26 am on Saturday.

Assam, along with other north-eastern states have been experiencing moderate earthquakes during the past couple of months.

On July 16, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter Scale had struck Karimganj.

Mizoram is the worst hit state during the last few months.

The state had experienced series of earthquakes in recent times causing serious to moderate damages to property.
