Two alleged drug peddlers were injured after police fired at them along the Tinsukia bypass in Assam on Wednesday. 

The injured drug peddlers have been identified as Amar Das and Apan Nuli.  

Both of them sustained bullet injuries in their legs. 

According to police, the two drug peddlers were travelling on a Tata Nexon vehicle bearing registration no (AS 03 Z 7172).

As per information, they were coming from Dibrugarh side. 

Both of them have been admitted at the Tinsukia civil hospital in a “serious condition”.  

Speaking to Northeast Now, Tinsukia SP Debojit Deori said, “We received a secret information that two drug peddlers were coming to Tinsukia through the bypass. We intercepted the vehicle and asked them to stop. But they didn’t stop and our team fired at them. Two drug peddlers sustained bullet injuries and admitted to Tinsukia civil hospital.” 

he added: “We have seized two packets of heroin after searching the vehicle. They were coming from Nagaland side with the drugs.”
