After the good news of its Vice Chancellor being awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by The Confederation of Indian Universities, New Delhi, the Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), Tapesia has also a bad news as some of its students have lodged a complaint with the University Grants Commission (UGC) alleging lack of basic amenities in the campus.
However, the University authorities have reportedly refuted all the allegations claiming that its Tapesia campus has a proper Right to Information Cell, an Internal Complaint Committee and a placement officer.
The ADBU authorities also reportedly claimed that there are proper internet facilities and measures are taken to maintain cleanliness in the University campus at Tapesia on the outskirts of Guwahati.
On Monday, the ADBU V-C Father Maverly was honoured by The Confederation of Indian Universities, New Delhi with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
A report of The Times of India on Wednesday quoted the director of the school of humanities and social sciences at ADBU, Riju Sharma saying, “The University continuously reviews all its processes to ensure continuous improvement for success in accordance with statutory norms as well as setting a benchmark against other institutions.”
Sharma also reportedly said that there is dedicated house-keeping staff who works tirelessly for the “upkeep and cleanliness of the entire university”.
Claiming that the University authorities stress on awareness and counselling for the students so that if the students have any kind of complaints that can be settled in a sensitive and fair way and on time.
The University authorities also reportedly asserted that there is a comprehensive care system for the University students.
In a statement the University reportedly said, “The department of mass communication is well-equipped with all the necessary facilities such as professional editing suite, audio recording studio, digital cameras and digital recorders. In fact, the department is one of the few media departments in this region to have a state-of-the-art indoor photography studio.”
There are development programmes, career guidance cell and activity clubs in the University where training and placement cell are also available besides and incubation centre.
There is also arrangement for entrepreneurship development of the students, the ADBU authorities reportedly said.
Though the University authorities have refuted the allegations, the ADBU students are waiting for what action the UGC authorities would take against the University.
