Assam: Dispur police sub-inspector ‘loots’ gold biscuits; suspended

In a shocking incident, a sub-inspector (SI) of Dispur police has been suspended for allegedly looting 60 gold biscuits from police custody.

According to a report in the local media, the police officer who has been identified as Nipu Kalita, sub inspector of Dispur police has been absconding since January 15, after looting 60 gold biscuits from the police station.

Kalita along with Constable Faijur Rahman and Home Guard Afjal Ali, have robbed gold biscuits worth several lakhs from the police station and absconding since then.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered in this regard, informed Dispur Police. They also informed that statements of three people in this connection have been recorded under CrPC 164. They confessed that they have helped the SI in stealing the gold biscuits from the station.

The Dispur police is confident of arresting the trio soon as the Joint Commissioner of police is investigating the matter.
