The revelations made in the affidavit submitted by former member of the militant group, DHD(J),  Miput Raijung alias Action Dimasa before the District Sessions Court at Haflong regarding the murder of then NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) and Congress leader Purnendu Langthasa and Executive Member (EM) Nindu Langthasa has created ripples in entire Dima Hasao district.

In the affidavit, Action Dimasa stated that Debolal Garlosa alias Daniel Dimasa, the present CEM of the NCHAC led by the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) was involved in the killing of Nindu Langthasa. On the other hand, “DHD cadres had killed Purnendu” and Action was witness to the killing. As soon as this affidavit submitted in the court was made public sensation prevailed in the entire district.

While addressing a press conference here on Friday, Dima Hasao District Congress Committee (DHDCC) leaders Kalijoy Sengyung and Hamjanan Langthasa demanded arrest of NCHAC CEM Debolal Garlosa and dissolve the Council with immediate effect.

Sengyung said, “Miput Raijung alias Action Dimasa has submitted an affidavit to the court stating that he was a direct witness to the murder of Purnendu and Nindu. As per Action’s statement, Debolal Gorlosa alias Daniel Dimasa killed Nindu.”

Sengyung demanded imposition of Governor’s rule with immediate effect by dissolving the BJP-ruled NCHAC until the next election.

While attending the press conference, Nindu Langthasa’s son, currently Youth Congress leader Daniel Langthasa, mentioning about the horrific killing of June 4, 2007, said, “Our family has been waiting for justice for the last 11 years. We did not think that we would get justice. But now, we are hopeful.”

Daniel Langthasa said, “On June 4, 2007, our father Nindu and then CEM Purnendu Langthasa were killed by the DHD(J) group in Langlai Hasnu village at Dehangi.  Miput Raijung alias Action Dimasa was present during the killing. The whole killing took place in front of him. During that time, Debolal Garlosa alias Daniel Dimasa was the Commanding Officer of the Umrangso Zone.”

Daniel Langthasa also said, “I and my family have pardoned Debolal. But can he accept the crime that he had committed?”

He further said, “I want justice not only for my father. I want justice for all.”

Congress leader Hamjanan Langthasa also demanded dissolution of the NCHAC and arrest of all the accused involved in the killing.

He alleged that then Council member Prafulla Phonglu reached Gera village with Rs 50 lakh along with his bodyguard. “But even taking money, why Purnendu and Nindu were killed barring Phonglu’s bodyguard? But in his affidavit Action has mentioned that Rs 2 crore was sought.”

Hamjanan demanded CBI probe into the whole incident. He questioned, when the BJP was claiming of a clean government how it could place people accused of killing in power.

It may be mentioned that on June 4, 2007, Purnenndu Langthasa and Ninu Langthasa were killed by militants after they were called from an election meeting in Langlai Hasnu village at Dehangi.
