District Water and Sanitation Committee, Tinsukia in a joint collaboration with NSS Digboi College Unit and IQAC Digboi College, organized the closing ceremony of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2018, on the occasion 149thBirth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The programme started with paying homage to the Father of the Nation, with lightening of lamp and singing the official song of the Swatch Bharat Mission by the college students.

The keynote address was delivered by Bhaben Hazarika, Executive Engineer, of Public Health Engineering Department of the District.

A motivational speech was delivered by Dip Saikia, Principal Digboi College about the activities of the National Service Scheme (NSS) related to the Swachhata Hi Seva and its role towards educating the 18 different villages of the District.  Noyana Saikia, NSS volunteers also addressed the audience about her experiences towards outreaching the remote villagers.

Noted educationist of this region Hitendra Nath Sarma, Retd. Principal of Margherita College, also delivered his fruitful talk towards Swatchhata.

ParthaProtimBairagi, ADC Tinsukia who is also in-charge of SwachhBharat Mission-Gramin gave the overall report of the District programmes on Swachhata Hi Seva. He congratulated Digboi College and awarded the Best College of Tinsukia District for the year 2018-19 for outstanding contribution in promoting Swachhata norms, Sanitation and Hygiene parameters across the District.

Bairagi thanked the NSS student volunteers who did remarkable work during the entire summer vacations in upgrading the villages in this regard during their Swachh Bharat Summer Internship (SBSI)programme.
