Dibrugarh: The First Track Athletics Academy of Assam’s Dibrugarh celebrated a significant milestone with great enthusiasm through a grand and memorable annual programme held on Friday evening at the S. N. Baruah Hall, Indoor Stadium Campus, Chowkidinghee.
The event was attended by a large gathering of athletes, parents, sports enthusiasts, coaches, and members of the public, reflecting the academyโs growing recognition and strong community support.
Founded with the sole aim of nurturing and shaping young children and youth into talented, disciplined, and successful citizens of India, the First Track Athletics Academy has carved out a remarkable niche in the field of athletics.
In a relatively short span, the academy has produced more than 18 national-level sportspersons, while many of its trainees have successfully secured positions in various services, including the paramilitary forces, armed forces, and the Assam Police.
Among the notable achievers groomed by the academy are Miyank Deoria, Sub-Inspector, Assam Police; Nikita Taye and Ratul Boro of the Assam Police; Sonit Das and Ashim Bordoloi of the Indian Army; Tinku Tayeng of the Excise Department; Sachin Lahkar of the SSB; Rajat Nath; and several others.
Their achievements stand as a testament to the academyโs commitment to discipline, perseverance, and excellence.
The celebratory programme commenced on an enthusiastic note and left a lasting impression on the audience.
Distinguished guests present on the occasion included Sammi Saikia, District Sports Officer (DSO), Dibrugarh; Ms. Sanchita Dowarah from the National Institute of Sports; Ainu Sonowal, physical instructor and coach of Floris Academy; and Bijoy Bhuyan, coach, Bhanipur Athletics.
The event began with a warm welcome address by Anuradha Daskonwar, followed by the felicitation of the guests led by Purnima Abhoipuria.
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked the formal inauguration of the programme and was jointly performed by Sammi Saikia, DSO; Sanchita Dowarah, NIS; Ainu Sonowal; Dr. Lamkholal Doungel; Bijoy Bhuyan; and Tithanath Chutia.
Cultural and sports-related performances added colour and vibrancy to the evening. These included a group song dedicated to renowned singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg, Jyoti Sangeet, and lively student performances.
Solo dance performances by Roslyn and Kausturi were especially appreciated by the audience, along with an energetic group dance by parents, which reflected the strong bond between the academy and the families of the athletes.
A major highlight of the programme was the Achiever Awards Ceremony. Athletes Mausam Das and Debanuj Gogoi were honoured for their participation in the National Youth Athletics Championship held in Udupi, Karnataka.
Immanuel Tongjathang Doungel was awarded the Best Athlete title of the Dibrugarh District Inter-Club Championship, while Anshu Bhuyan received recognition for regular attendance and unwavering dedication.
Another landmark moment of the evening was the inauguration of the Pre-Fauji Academy, formally inaugurated by the parents of Santosh Chutia.
The initiative marks a new chapter in the academyโs mission to prepare young aspirants for disciplined and uniformed services.
The programme also featured speeches by the chief guest, Chief Coach and Proprietor of the academy, Mr. Santosh Chutia, along with other distinguished invitees.
A speech on behalf of the parents was delivered by Dr. Lamkholal Doungel, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Political Science, DHSK College, who encouraged the young athletes, appreciated parents for their continued support, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the coaches and management for their tireless dedication in shaping the future of the children.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Karmanada Keloidari, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, marking the successful conclusion of an inspiring and memorable celebration.
The programme reaffirmed First Track Athletics Academyโs growing reputation as a premier institution committed to excellence in sports, discipline, and nation-building.
