A 45-year-old woman tax superintendent, who tested positive for Covid-19, has died at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.
Tax superintendent Reejumoni Gohain, who was unwell for last few days, was admitted to a private hospital in Dibrugarh. She was shifted to the AMCH for Covid-19 treatment on Sunday when her condition deteriorated suddenly.
She passed away at the AMCH on Sunday evening.
Gohain reportedly had served as a COVID-19 frontline warrior in Guwahati city for over three months until her transfer to Dibrugarh.
Gohain had joined as an inspector of taxes and had recently been promoted to the rank of superintendent.
“During her tenure as taxation officer, she was known to be diligent, bright, and honest who performed her duties sincerely and effectively. She served till the very end as a frontline COVID-19 warrior”, read a condolence message from the commissioner and secretary finance, Shyam Jaganathan.
