Dibrugarh: More than 200 flood-affected families in Loonporiya village under Lakwa in Assam’s Charaideo district received relief materials and medical assistance through a humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting residents recovering from the recent floods.
The relief camp, organised by Amolapatty Rajohowa Namghar of Dibrugarh, distributed relief kits and educational materials to students to help affected families resume their daily lives. A medical team also visited the village, offering health check-ups and distributing essential medicines.
Although the relief has provided immediate support, the village continues to face significant challenges, with many families still in need of rehabilitation assistance and additional relief supplies. Recognising these needs, Amolapatty Rajohowa Namghar said it would continue extending support by providing rehabilitation materials and other essential items in the coming days.
In a compassionate gesture, Pranjal Sharma and Vivek Deorah, members of the Namghar, pledged to sponsor the educational needs of a girl student whose books, school uniform and study materials were washed away during the floods.
The relief effort was supported by J.J. Memorial Hospital, Dibrugarh, which provided medical services, while Naharhabi Tea Estate at Lakwa extended logistical and other assistance for the programme.
The initiative brought much-needed relief to the flood-hit community and highlighted the importance of sustained rehabilitation and support for families affected by the disaster.
