Dibrugarh-based doctor, Dr Siddhi Prasad Deori, who poured hot water on a 12-year-old minor, has been sent to the judicial custody along with his wife, Mitali Konwar.

Dr Siddhi Prasad Deori and his wife, Mitali Konwar, who is the principal of Moran College, were produced before the court of judicial magistrate, Dibrugarh on Sunday in connection with a Dibrugarh police station case (no. 1443/2020) registered under sections 344/326/34 of the IPC.

Dr Deori and his wife were arrested by Nagaon police on Saturday night from Raha.

Earlier, Dibrugarh Police arrested the son and daughter of the couple in connection with the case.

It has been alleged that on August 27, Dr Deori poured hot water on a 12-year old minor when he was sleeping on a floor in their residence.

The minor boy had been working in their residence for the last one year.

Several organisations staged protests against the barbaric incident and demanded stringent punishment to the couple.
