However, the alleged kidnapper, Altab Ali, has claimed that he is a resident of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal as per an AADHAR card issued by the UIDAI which has been recovered from his possession.

But the police suspect that he might be a Bangladeshi national as he was planning to flee to Bangladesh.

A proper verification about his original identity has been under process with the help of Jalpaiguri Police of West Bengal.

The kidnapper was also involved in a stone business at the Sonahat International Trade Centre under Golakganj Police Station of Dhubri district.

The rescued girl has been handed over to her family members while the kidnapper has been kept by Dhubri Police in their custody for further investigations as informed by D Das, officer-in-charge of AMCo Road Police Outpost of Dhubri district.
