Demanding the arrest of Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev for “maligning” the image of Padma Bhushan awardee and legendary Assamese litterateur late Sayed Abdul Malik, members of All Assam Goriya Moriya Deshi Jatiya Parishad (AAGMDJAP) staged a protest demonstration in Guwahati on Sunday.

Taking part in the demonstration by adhering strictly to the social distancing norms, the AAGMDJAP alleged that the Hojai MLA has lost his mental balance and that he should be lodged inside a mental asylum for treatment.

It may be mentioned here that Shiladitya Dev on Saturday had called Sayed Abdul Malik as a ‘Jehadi’.

Dev said that the revered litterateur in 1936 had accelerated and ‘intellectual jihad’ with an intention to convert Assam into Bangladesh.

Lashing out the MLA for demeaning the image of the late author, the AAGMDJAP members said, “Shiladitya Dev, who himself had fled Bangladesh, should be arrested for hurting the image of Assam’s one of the pioneering authors.”
