“Even though the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is not applicable in the Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) region, but the Asomiya Yuva Mancha would continue its protest against it for the greater interest of the Assamese language and culture.”

This was voiced by Nitumoni Deka, newly elected president of the Udalguri district committee of the organization on Sunday.

Expressing the organization’s concern over the present associate language status of the Assamese language in the entire BTAD region, Deka said since Assamese is primary language spoken by  the majority of the population since time immemorial, the BTC authority should honour this language with the equal official language status like that of the Bodo language in the BTAD region.

He also said that the Assamese people in the BTAD region has high regard for the Bodo language and AYM always wishes its rapid growth and development.

It is to be noted that the Udalguri district committee of the Asomiya Yuva Mancha was formed on Sunday with 31 members and Nitumoni Deka and Mukut Deka as president and secretary respectively.
