In an exemplary judgment, Nagaon Sessions Court on Friday sentenced to death the main accused in the spine-chilling rape and murder case of Batatdroba in Assam’s Nagaon district.

The main accused in the heinous crime, Zakir Hussain was convicted for raping a 13 years old minor girl and later burning the victim alive by pouring kerosene on her.

The monstrous crime was committed by Zakir along with two of his minor partners in crime on March 23 early this year at Dhanibheti Lalunggaon of Batatdroba in Nagaon district.

While Zakir was sentenced to life imprisonment under POSCO for raping the minor, he was sentenced to death by another verdict for murdering the minor girl.

Notably, Zakir was convicted by the district and sessions judge of Nagaon on Tuesday last.
