More than 100 members of the Darrang District Committee of All Assam High School Additional Contractual Teachers’ Association staged three hours sit in protest on Wednesday.

The protest was staged at the premises of Inspector of Schools, Darrang in Mangaldai as a part of their on going agitational programme since August 2 last.

The protesting teachers displayed placards and banners in support of their charter of demands including regularization of their services as per the Cabinet decision of the year 2016.

They also demanded effective implementation of the report of the DRSCE among others.

The teachers were appointed by the government way back in 2010.

Despite having taken a Cabinet decision to regularize their services, they were made to work on meagre salary.

The second phase of this agitational program following four days class boycott has been demonstrated all over Assam by the teachers numbering around 6,000.

In Mangaldai, members of several public organizations including leaders of Sadou Darrang District Employees’ Association also took part in the protest.
