Darrang Police busted a fake Indian currency racket and arrested five persons involved in the racket.

The police seized fake Indian currency notes and equipment suspected to be used in producing fake currency notes.

The five persons were arrested during two separate operations carried out at Bandiya Chapori under Mangaldai police station and Baroipara under Kharupetia police station.

A police team from Kharupetia police station seized fake Indian currency notes of the face value of Rs 17,500 of Rs 500 denomination, genuine Indian currency notes worth Rs 13,410 along with a printer and a bundle of blank papers from the possession of the arrested people.

“The accused have been identified as 22-year-old Ali Hussain, 24-year-old Amirul Islam, 19-year-old Ruhul Ali, 21-year-old Inamul Haque, all residents of Bandiya and 22-year-old Saddam Hussain of Baroipara,” Darrang superintendent of police Sushanta Biswa Sarma told Northeast Now.

The Darrang police chief said, “A case has been registered in connection with the seizure. Further investigations are going on.”

Meanwhile, Darrang Police on its Twitter handle on Friday revealed that the police have arrested drugs peddler Moinul Ali, son of Lt Mokshed Ali, a resident of Singimari under Hajo police station in Kamrup rural district.

The drug peddler fled from spot on June 9, 2021.

“Apprehended the drugs peddler, Moinul Ali S/o. Lt Mokshed Ali of Singimari PS-Hajo, Kamrup who fled away from the spot on 09.06.21, after keeping the vehicle abandoned with suspected drugs,” Darrang Police tweeted.
