Author and literary organizer from Darrang, Kiran Saikia Bora has been conferred with the ‘Lifetime achievement award’ by Asom Lekhika Sanstha, a premiere literary body of women writers in Assam.
Bora, a state-level award-winning retired teacher, is a resident of Jyotinagar in Darrang’s Mangaldai.

The award was ceremonially presented recently during the biennial conference of Asom Lekhika Sanstha at Tirtha Nath Sarma Bhawan, Chandmari in Guwahati.
Kiran Saikia Bora has penned five books including ‘Xadhu Kathar Amrit Gatha’, ‘Jitu Grihe Madhabar Bhakati Xadhoi’ and ‘Kabitare Bigyan’.
She has also served the literary body as the president of its Mangaldai chapter from 1999 to 2020.

She retired as the headmistress of Mangaldai Town Boys’ LP School and before retirement, her service was recognized with the state teacher award in 1997.

Talking to Northeast Now, Saikia Bora termed the award as a significant inspiration for her quiet literary journey targeting the common masses, particularly young students.
Apart from Saikia Bora, six other prominent women writers of the state, namely Dr Suchitra Kakati, Dr Anjali Sarma, Diptimoyee Burhagohain Gogoi, Syeda Nurzahan, Toseswari Phukan Neog and Renu Dutta Baruah were also conferred with the award in the function.

The function was chaired by Manjula Sarma Bhattacharjee, the outgoing president of the literary body.
