Guwahati: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) led a commemorative cycle rally that rolled into Zubeen Kshetra in Assam’s Sonapur early on November 16, completing a journey that began at the late icon Zubeen Gargโ€™s residence.

The organisers designed the event to celebrate Zubeenโ€™s enduring commitment to fitness, cycling, and sportsmanship.

Cyclists taking part in the rally said that they wanted to uphold the ideals Zubeen promoted throughout his life.

One participant noted, โ€œZubeen always encouraged sports and fitness. We are honouring his legacy, and it is our duty to keep his message alive.โ€

Another rider linked the moment with the artistโ€™s upcoming birth anniversary.

โ€œWe planned this rally ahead of his birthday to show our respect. We will also plant saplings and light a diya at his cremation site,โ€ the member added.

After reaching Sonapur, the team planted saplings at Zubeen Kshetra and offered floral tributes while praying for the departed artist.

Throughout the rally, participants recalled how Zubeen Garg inspired countless young people with his love for cycling, outdoor pursuits, and healthy living. SAI members said his influence continues to motivate athletes and youth across the region.
