The Assam Cultural Trust is organizing public felicitation of mobile theatre groups and artists every year from across the state in an attempt to encourage playwrights and actors to improve their craft.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, decided to organize annual functions to highlight the rich traditions of Barak Valley and the hill districts of the state at the governing body meeting.

In the meeting at Brahmaputra State Guest House, CM Sonowal emphasized the need to develop the infrastructure of ITA Pragjyoti Centre for Performing Arts, Machkhowa. For the development of the artistic talents of the state, the ITA needs to be on a par with other such centres across the country.

Sonowal urged the Trust to take necessary measures for showcasing the religious, cultural and linguistic versatility of the different tribes of Assam globally.

State-of-the-Art auditoriums are also to be set up in different parts of the state to highlight the unique artistic temperament of over 70 different tribes indigenous to Assam and for tourists to enjoy this unique cultural experience.

The Cultural Trust has contributed to the development of the cultural sphere of Assam with drama festivals, children’s summer camps on dramatics etc.

Minister of State for Cultural Affairs Naba Kumar Doley, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami, Commisioner and Secretary of the Cultural Affairs Department Pritom Saikia, Deputy Commisioner of Kamrup Metro, Dr M Angamuthu, Director of Cultural Affairs Deba Prasad Mishra and other members of the Assam Cultural Trust were present in the meeting.
